Volume on laptop keeps going up

My volume on my MacBook Air laptop keeps going up all the time. It started yesterday. I had to keep lowering the volume and every so often when I open a new tab or page the volume would shoot back up to 100%. I go this laptop a year ago. It is currently running on the most recent software MacOS Big Sur. What can I do?

Hello st_dent_x!

If Mac Volume Increases...

Reset the Core Audio:

Restart the Mac. Once restarted, if that does not fix this, then, reset the Core Audio.

To Reset the Core Audio...

Type the following command in Terminal:

sudo killall coreaudiod

If that doesn’t work, then use these:

Terminal Audio Commands:

Use These Two Commands in Terminal to Maintain Your Audio:

  • osascript -e 'set volume output volume 100’

  • osascript -e 'set volume output muted FALSE'

I hope this is helpful. Good Luck!
