MBP Kernel Panic during backups leading to shutdown

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

Big Sur 11.7.4

Recently my computer began shutting down in the middle of doing drive backups. Fans kick up and then the system shuts down and restarts. Very frustrating as I cannot complete a proper backup... Can anyone help??

x86 CPU CATERR detected usually indicates a hardware problem but the panic log doesn't provide enough information to diagnose any particular problem.

I suggest downloading Etrecheck and running it. Generate a report and then paste a copy of the report here. (Etrecheck is a reporting app that provides details about your Mac's system; it is widely recommended and used in these forums.)

There is no faster way to destabilize your Mac that to run certain third-party add-ons:

If you have installed software that wastes computer resources on a regular basis, such as third-party Virus Scanners, speeder-uppers, Cleaner-uppers/Removers, Optimizers, third-party file Sync-ers such as DropBox, BackBlaze, OneDrive, or GoogleDrive, or a VPN that you installed yourself, it will do busywork at previously-impossible speeds and causing seemingly-random panics, typically for access violations or page faults. — heating up at a ferocious rate.
