Best password manager for MacOS and iOS...
I have been using 1Password for years, and value their service primarily for the following reasons:
- end to end encryption (they say....I have no way of know where my secret key is going when I enter it on their website)
- seamless integration with MacOS, browsers, iOS
- re, the browsers, it's usually very good at integrating with them, offering known passwords/information and offering to learn new websites/passwords or creating passwords for those websites - in short, it lives up to its name....I only have to remember one password, and the app takes care of the rest, with rare exceptions
One thing that bothers me, though, is that they moved to a model over a year ago whereby all your information resides in their encrypted cloud, including versioned backups.
The older versions had a file that you would sync through another cloud service, but it was your file, and you could back it up easily, and automatically (using TM, CCC, etc).
I want a way to have and manage my own backups of my passwords, and to be able to do this easily and automatically. As it is now, 1Password makes a SQL file on your MacOS device, and while I can make versioned backups of that (again....TM, CCC), I have no idea what to do with those backups if I find my 1Password database corrupted one day.
Has anyone found another offering that equals 1Password's ease of use/integration/security that also allows the end user to better control and backup their own data?
I'm aware that offerings like Keeper and Dashlane exist, but have no experience with them, and it's time consuming carrying everything over only to find out that it's not a good fit, so hoping someone here can help.
Thanks!
