iPhone 13 Pro Max video / photos over processed
Hi. Most of the time I am happy with video and photos from my phone but sometimes the images look over-processed. This may be down to HDR, depth mapping or Dolby Vision. A few examples: a video shot of a swan on a lake where Dolby Vision seems to be turned up too high making the water “pop” to a ridiculous amount. The absolute maximum brightness in areas of the video makes the video unwatchable and unusable. Another example: sometimes a photo looks like each item has been depth mapped separately and ends up looking like it’s been stuck on the background with almost a distinct edge around it.
I know you can’t turn off HDR (crazy that Apple doesn’t give the control earlier phones had) but I can’t find any way of dialling down the Dolby Vision unnatural looking exaggeration in some videos. I guess the “stuck on” appearance is down to excessive processing or depth mapping.
The biggest disappointment is that the phone doesn’t show these problems as you record / take images so you only discover them after - often losing the shot. Out of a recent trip I had to delete 10+ files as just looking artificial.
Anyone else had this problem or found a workaround?
