iTunes Restore

I backed up my iPhone (PC backup) to iTunes. When it was done, I erased my iPhone, then reconnected it. My pc recognized it as a new phone and I hit restore from backup. The restore appeared to go fine and the phone started up.

The problem is all of my apps are missing. Not grayed out and waiting to be downloaded, but they’re simply not there anymore. It shows I’m logged in to my iCloud account on the phone, and all of my pics are there. But the only apps are the pre installed ones. The weird thing too is when I connect it to my PC, it doesn’t recognize it as my phone and asks me to set up as a new phone or to restore from backup again.

Any ideas?

Greetings Freehiker,

You may need to Finish setting up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, in order to restore your apps.

Are you able to download the apps using these steps?

  1. "On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store app.
  2. Browse through the Today, Games, Apps, or Arcade tabs to find apps you like. Or tap the Search tab to look for something specific. If you find a game that says Arcade, subscribe to Apple Arcade to play the game.
  3. Tap or click the price or Get button. If you see the Open button instead of a price or Get button, you already bought or downloaded that app.

In the App Store, if an app has a Get button instead of a price, the app is free. You won't be charged for downloading a free app. Some free apps offer in-app purchases and subscriptions that you can buy. Subscriptions and in-app purchases give you access to more features, content, and more." Download apps and games on your iPhone or iPad

We hope this helps to get your apps back.

Best wishes.
