My Macbook Air has a fan that will not stop running- from power on, the fan is running LOUD and constant no matter what level of use. I tried the SMC reset and it did not work. The nearest apple store to me is hours away and was wondering if there was anything else to try and fix it? I use this for school and can't send it away until the semester is over.

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.
If the diagnostics do not report any hardware issues, then run EtreCheck to look for possible software issues. Post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.
