Pages App File/Open File List does not match Finder App File List

Mac Mini running OS Ventura 13.2.1:


I have noticed that when I attempt to open a file from inside Pages the list of files is not the same as what I can see using the Finder App. I have closed Pages, rebooted my Mac, re-indexed the drive and ran First Aid which showed no issues.


I have noticed this before, that a file I know is in the folder that I saved on a specific date, but only shows up in the Finder App.


Check out these two screen shots, taken at the same time. From the Finder app you can see the file "Angles Contact Log - Carter" dated Yesterday at 11:54 AM. Yet from the Pages File Open file list it only displays the file dated Jan 26, 2023 at 2:10 PM.

Thoughts? Sure seems like a OS bug to me. I have reported this issue via the Apple Feedback bug report web page.

The document types that Pages cannot open (e.g. PDF) are grayed out and unavailable. The Pages File Open panel is an Apple Cocoa Framework designed to look, and to a limited extent, behave like Finder, but is not the external Finder.


Your Pages Open panel is likely grouped by Date added which would give a different view than a Finder window not grouped in that manner.

Thanks for the comment. I realize it "looks" different, and grayed out files are not compatible with Pages.


My point is that the Pages list of files does NOT show the latest "Angles Contact Log - Carter" dated "Yesterday at 11:54 AM". It only shows two files from "yesterday", yet there are clearly 3 files from "Yesterday" as confirmed by the Finder App. All three files are MS Word files compatible with Pages.
