Swift Publisher 5 won't open existing .spub files

I have been using Swift Publisher 3 for years. I have a new Macbook running Monterey and downloaded Swift Publisher 5. This version won't open any existing .spub file. I tried downloading Swift Publisher 3 but get the same result.

Swift Publisher is useless to me unless I can access all of my previous files. Help?

Updating an existing iBook using iBooks Author? I need to update an existing Apple iBook created in 2015 by adding an additional Chapter and a revised Introduction. Although Pages is required for new publications I understand I can still use iBooks to access and update as I hear there are potential formatting problems in migrating to Pages? (My iMac uses High Sierra and I'm considering updating to Catalina if this would help.) Any suggestions gratefully received.

epub files not working I've read through a few threads on this issue, mostly from some time ago, but none seem to offer a solution, or explanation as to why Apple have changed how books works so that any epub documents no longer work. I'm running Ventura but am aware that others have had issues with earlier os versions also. I have a library of several hundred epub books, direct from the publishers (not via apple store) & none work since updating to Ventura. I've tried deleting them & re-adding & even getting new epub files of some from the publishers. I've tried re-setting books also. I have seen some folks suggesting converting epub files to PDF but why do we, as customers, accept that? epub is a valid format & why should we allow Apple to do anything that means purchases aren't usable?

Swift Publisher 5.6.6 is in the Mac App Store and hopefully, that is the version you mean by Swift Publisher 5. If not, then update the product and try opening that .spub document again. Dialabrain's recommendation is sound advice for continued issues.
