Brand New m1 Macbook Air asking for NAME and PASSWORD

My brand new M1 Macbook Air booted me out and restarted without my asking it to. When it turned back on, there was a screen asking for my name and password. I type in both of those things, and no matter how many times I type in my passwords it just keeps telling me it’s wrong and there is no alternative login option. Please help!!
