After downloading Yosemite from the official site: How to download macOS - Apple Support, how to install it?
Apparently, double-clicking on the dmg file, going straight to the end (with that "Installation Successful" message), plus restarting the Macbook pro (Intel chip), did not solve the issue.

Solution: the "Installation Successful" message actually did not indicate a successful installation of Yosemite but of the installer of Yosemite.
The installer icon appeared inside the "Lauchpad".
Click on the installer icon and it would take some additional 30 minutes to install Yosemite.

Did you check, if the dmg file has been downloaded to your Application folder?
If yes, double click on it to start the installation.
You could also try to start in Recovery Mode and choose to get the OSX version installed:
