Will I lose text messages if I change the Apple ID in iMessage?

I have been having an issue with text messages not showing up on my Apple Watch and realized that the problem may be coming from the fact that I am logged into iMessage with a different Apple ID than I use on my phone, MacBook, and iPad. It appears pretty straight forward to change the Apple ID being used in iMessage on my iPhone but before doing so I want to ensure I won't lose any of my text messages.


Does anyone know if I will lose any text messages changing accounts?


I have verified that iMessage is linked to the same email address and phone number on all of my devices.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help you get the most from your Apple Watch and Messages.

Once you sign out of the account, those messages would be removed from the Apple Watch.

See here for the steps to check/change your account:

"Check your iMessage settings

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is turned on.

Then tap Send & Receive and make sure that you're using the same Apple ID that your Apple Watch is using. 

If you aren't signed in, sign in to iMessage with your Apple ID."
