Mac Safari formatting problem with HTML input list

I have a modal that Mac Safari is messing up on formatting.

I use <div> setup as two columns. Multiple <div> should do first on the left, then the right and then on the next row, back to the left.

The HTML works on Chrome and IPADs. Mac Safari (Version 16.1) creates a left empty space (no div or anything) right after a div that has two "input list" html elements.

Icons replaced with blank square outlines Has anyone seen this? While using Safari, where there should be indicative icons, there are frequently square box outlines (like a checkbox in a Pages document). Notice the bottom row of the first attached pic. There's no way of knowing what will happen when you click on any of those squares. It should look like the second picture (from Firefox browser). Notice the editing tools icons. Can anyone help?

Safari showing unusual characters after upgrade Since I updated to Sonoma 14.0, some pages in Safari appear with text characters like the ones I have provided in the screenshot attachment. When I fill in text, sometimes it looks fine and other times, letters and characters appear similar to these. However, when I copy/paste text from these pages, it appears normal. Is there a solution?
