Permission issues with Ventura upgrade

Since upgrading to Ventura, I know longer have admin powers. When I get info on an app or some other file, these are the permissions listed. (see first photo below.) There is no longer an admn permission so I can "read and write" and if I try to add an admin (or any user), or if i try to change Wheel to "Read and Write", I am told I do not have permission. (See photo #2 below). A big problem now from stemming from this is I no longer can unlock my keychains. (See photo #3 below). What is happening and how do I fix this? I can't find the issue on Google.

Hi NLFord,

If you create a new Admin account, you can log in to it, assign your primary account admin access, then delete the temporary user you set up to do so.

To set up that account and grant yourself admin, follow: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hello NLFord,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that after updating your macOS that you no longer have administrator privileges. We are happy to help.

Is there another user profile on your Mac? If so, are you able to add the administrator privileges from another user? Did you make any profiles to your user account prior to updating your macOS version? These answers will help us to isolate the cause further.

We recommend trying some isolating troubleshooting steps—testing in safe mode and a new user account.

Here’s how to use safe mode:How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

"Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
  3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
  4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again."

Here’s how to add a new user: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

"Create a new user or group.

Click the New Account pop-up menu (you may be asked to enter your password), then choose a type of account.

  • Administrator: An administrator can add and manage other users, install apps, and change settings. The new user you create when you first set up your Mac is an administrator. Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones, and convert standard users to administrators. Don’t set up automatic login for an administrator. If you do, someone could simply restart your Mac and gain access with administrator privileges. To keep your Mac secure, don’t share administrator names and passwords.
  • Standard: Standard users are set up by an administrator. Standard users can install apps and change their own settings, but can’t add other users or change other users’ settings.
  • Sharing Only: Sharing-only users can access shared files remotely, but can’t log in to the computer or change settings. To give the user permission to access your shared files or screen, you may need to change options in File Sharing, Screen Sharing, or Remote Management settings. See Set up file sharing and Share the screen of another Mac.
• Group: Groups allow multiple users to have the same access privileges. You control a group’s access to your shared folders by setting access permissions in the File Sharing options in Sharing settings.

See Add a user or group."

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.

Q: Is there another user profile on your Mac?

A: no, Just myself and guest. In Users & Groups, I am listed as Admin, but I am unable to change permissions or add or edit anything under "Sharing permissions" in the info pallet.

Q: Did you make any profiles to your user account prior to updating your macOS version?

A: No. It's just me and the system default "guest" users.

I am a little hesitant to start adding new users even if it is an admin user. I do not want to have to log out of my account then login to "admin" account in order to do things.
