Exchange Password Request Keeps Popping Up

With the latest update to Apple software on all devices, I get repeated requests to enter Exchange password. When I go to enter the password with Microsoft, it works only after I do the authentication and follow process to “reset password”. I reuse the same password and it lets me in, until I open my Exchange accounts. Apple - please help resolve this!

What about application passwords? Will that keep working?

If application passwords are being used for MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) along with basic auth as another auth mechanism, then when basic authentication is disabled, app passwords used for MFA will stop working too.
