Garage Band permission to open app

How can I regain access to reopen Garage Band on my macOS Big Sur lap top.

Don't know why I'm getting this prompt now when I try to open it:

"You do not have permission to open the application “GarageBand”.

Garage Band has full disc access in my privacy settings.

And in sharing & permissions I have read and write privilege.

I hope someone can help me figure this out.

Thanks.

Hi RealTimeHappening,

For help with accessing GarageBand, are you also logged in to an administrator account? If not, test while logged in to an administrator account. There are steps below found in the article here: If you need permission to open an item on Mac - Apple Support

"If you don’t have permission to open a file or folder, you may be able to change the permissions settings.

  1. On your Mac, select the item, then choose File > Get Info, or press Command-I.
  2. Click the arrow  next to Sharing & Permissions to expand the section.
  3. Click the pop-up menu next to your user name to see the permissions settings.
  4. If you’re not logged in as an administrator, you may need to click the lock  to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password (or use Touch ID or your Apple Watch).
  5. Change the permissions to either Read & Write or “Read only.”

If the issue continues, boot to safe mode and test again. If needed, those steps are here: How to use safe mode on your Mac

If you're still unable to open the app as expected, reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.

I already knew how to change permissions to read only or read and write.

The problem I found is I have to update my mac OS to Monterey or Ventura.

And because the Apple Music does not allow me anymore to backup like

I used to do on ITunes, I have to use Time Machine.

Time Machine is only allowing me to back up on an empty external hard drive.

It is my preference to not back up on i cloud.

So I have to go and buy a new external hard drive in order to back up my mac-

which I require myself to do before I download the new OS.

Then after I buy the new hard drive and download the new OS, I should be

able to use Garage Band.

Hope this helps someone else reading and has the same issues!
