Books Page Number System

When I started to read a book on my iPad I could choose between the real page numbers or digital. On my phone I can’t switch it over to physical page numbers. On my iPad the page numbers don’t change if I change the front but in my phone they do. How do I get my phone to be on the physical page numbers.
