Does extreme shrinking of a contact’s icon beside a text mean I have been blocked by them?

Thank you, JS! It’s a weird phenomenon…the contact’s pic is extremely small and offset to the edge of the circle frame alongside the text…it returns to normal size when she has texted me recently. Nobody else in my contact list does this, regardless of the date of the text.

No, it could mean that it is a group conversation. In a group conversation, up to 4 images/icons of the people participating in the conversation are displayed next to the message in the overview.
It could also be a glitch if there is only 1 image. Just try restarting your iPhone and see if that fixes it. You would never be able to see if a person has blocked you.
