Notifications Silenced?

Texts on my work phone (iphone 13) and Messages on my macbook (MacBook Pro 2017) say Notifications Silenced. I have shut off all Focuses, shut off Smart Activation, deleted scheduled Do Not Disturbs and restarted all 3 devices (Including my personal iphone [iphone 13 pro max] that I am using to see if the Notification Silenced error has been remedied). - AND my boss wants to know why I have Notifications Silenced. Can anyone help?

Thank you, Ruth Ann, you have tried so many possibilities already!

Re: "I didn't get the "Options" option" (on the Lock Screen).

Wondering which iPhone iOS version is installed on your iPhone 13.

About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support says iOS 16.3.1 is the newest

You might want to check that your boss is listed ok in your contacts ...

ie: sometimes we may have Messages set up to filter out messages from unknown senders. (Settings > Messages > Message Filtering > Filter out Unknown Senders)

Hi ruthannlehane

welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community.

Re: Notifications Silenced?

In Apple Support's article:

Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

if you scroll to:

Manage notifications

says:

"To manage your notifications from the Lock Screen

or Notification Center:

Swipe left over an alert or group of alerts.

Tap Options, then select from these options:

Mute for 1 Hour

Mute for Today

View Settings

Turn Off

You can also tap View Settings to change your alert styles or alert settings for a specific app."

NB: Seems notifications may have been accidentally turned off there ?

Further down, article says:

"Change alert styles

  1. Go to Settings and tap Notifications.
  2. Select an app under Notification Style.
  3. Under Alerts, choose the alert style that you want. If you turn on Allow Notifications, choose when you want the notifications delivered—immediately or in the scheduled notification summary."

There are more "notifications" tips in the article itself.

All the best :-)

Thank you so much for responding!

I followed the instructions under Manage Notifications - sent a text from my phone to my work phone, then swiped left - and it disappeared. I didn't get the "Options" option.

I also tried "Change group notification settings", and went to - Settings - Notifications - Messages - and "Allow Notifications" is on, along with "Always Deliver Immediately, Time Sensitive Notifications" but no other options.

I will look at the article to see if there is anything else there that might work. I appreciate your time!

Hello again!

My work phone iOS version is 16.3.1 and my personal phone is the same. I have been using my personal phone to text my work phone. (so, it's not just my boss' phone that shows Notifications Silenced.)

I also waited til I got other notifications on the lock screen to see if I got Options on those when I swipe left - and I did. sigh.

I haven't had a chance to look at the article again, but I will. Maybe I should make an appointment at the Apple Store?

And thanks again!
