Maps favorites disappeared after IOS 16 update

Find your favorites

A row of Favorites appears near the top of the search card.

To see more, swipe the row left, or tap More above the row.

Edit a favorite

1. On the search card, tap More above the row of favorites.

2. Tap  next to the favorite.

3. Depending on the location, you may be able to make the following changes:

• Rename the favorite: Double-tap the Label field, then enter a new name.

• Change the address: Tap Contact Card, then make your changes.

• Delete the location from your favorites list: Tap Remove Favorite.

•Tell someone your ETA: Tap Add Person, then choose one or more suggested contacts, or search for a contact. Whenever you start turn-by-turn navigation to this location, the person automatically receives a notification about your estimated time of arrival (ETA). See Share your estimated time of arrival (ETA) in Maps on iPhone.

4. Tap Done.

Just to let you guys know, this issue seems to have been solved with iOS 16.6. Please download and install it, and share your results in this thread.

All. Just tried a different approach with Map Favorites. Try these steps and see if it works for you.

Tap "More" next to Favorites, then "Edit" on bottom left. Delete "Home and Work" which are defaults. Then manually add your favorites and tap Done.

I've rebooted my phone 2 times this morning after accomplishing these steps and my manually added favorites have stayed in place.

I'll update if anything changes, but so far so good.

Hello my fellow mapple people. I had this issue several times when rebooting my phone. I recently noticed I had iCloud back up turned off. I turned it on for my phone and so far I am keeping my map destinations, it’s been about a week so far. I don’t see why it should matter but it seems to be working so far.

Your answer was not a response to the issue. Your solution is to just reprogram our favorites, not fix the issue that seems to be recurring for some users in this thread. As if we do not know how to program favorites? We obviously know how to program and save favorites, otherwise all of us who have this issue would not be coming to the forum in frustration. This issue is not resolved.

Thank you! That’s exactly it. There is some sort of bug going on with new iOS 16.4. My favorites in maps disappeared twice. I’ve googled this and other people report it as well. Will this be fixed in next update?

I don’t use iCloud. I realized that my Favorites were being deleted after I rebooted my phone. If I don’t reboot, they stay until I do reboot. Which I do kinda regularly to free it from glitches. Before I realized that, I was reentering the locations. I’m tired of it now. I’m disappointed in Apple. How do you contact developers to at least let them know what individuals are experiencing so they can put together a plan to fix the problem? I know, I know … obviously there’s no way to do that.

Unreal how many times this has happened to me now. It seems sometimes if I just reboot my phone Apple maps deletes all my favorites except HOME. Google Maps and Waze keep my saved items. One thing I can say is my iCloud is out of space and I would bet anything if I pay for more space all the sudden it would be a miracle and be fixed!

I'm having the same problem, but with v16.4 as of Monday. I lose my non-Contacts favorites every time I reboot my iPhone 12 mini. :(

Same! My favorites disappear after rebooting iPhone. This is so frustrating! Why have favorites option if they disappear?

This has happened to me twice. Your answer didn’t really help, what is the is solution? Is apple working on fixing this issue in the next update?

Since many users are having this problem,then please tell Apple via Bug Reporting - Apple Developer and Feedback - iPhone - Apple. I will do them too.

iCloud back up won’t help. I have an open ticket with apple. Admitted this is known problem with no effort to date being made to fix up. The rep promised to update me never heard from her

Apple doesn't read the forums. We have to tell them via bug reports and feedbacks as I mentioned earlier. So far, they haven't answered mine. :(
