MacBook Pro Won’t Connect to wifi

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro that won’t connect to the internet.

Its been like this for weeks now and I can’t for the life of me understand why.

I run the diagnostics and it says something about configuring the DNS and also the proxy.

Everything seems to look fine though, that said I’m not great with computers so I don’t know what numbers/information I need to insert in the DNS or Proxy tabs.

Can someone help me please, otherwise I’m left with a useless computer I’ve paid good money for.

I’ve only had it a couple of months too!

Again I’m useless with computers so can anyone who replies put it in ‘simple terms’ for me.

Troubleshooting iPhone WiFi:

A. Clear Temporary Internet Files:

If connecting is unsuccessful, try clearing out your Temporary Internet Files: History, Cache, and Cookies

Go Here: Clear your Safari Browser History and Set Up Content Blockers on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

and...

B. Try manually restarting your iPhone:

Go To: Settings
Select: General
Scroll to: the Very Bottom
Select: Shut Down
Slide Finger: to the Right
Wait: 30 Seconds
Power One: the iPhone
Try this Once More

C. Troubleshooting Connectivity:

Wi-Fi: If your iPhone won’t Connect to a Wi-Fi Network - Apple Support

D. Reset your Network Settings:

Go Here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't Connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support
Scroll To: Reset your Network Settings.

E. Restart your Router:

Power off you your router for 30 seconds, and then power it back on.

Turned off the firewall but still nothing, just says

“No internet

Try checking the network cables, modem and router

Reconnecting to Wi-fi”

Done both of this things but still nothing.

Also, under network - under the Proxies tab, I have noticed there’s an entry in the ‘Bypass proxy settings for these hosts and domains’ box.

The entry reads:

*,local, 169.254/16

Does this need to be in there?

Everybody else’s laptop/mobile is working fine so can’t be the ISP.

I can’t download anything on it as I can’t get onto the internet.

Also, I only had the Microsoft Authenticator app downloaded onto it, I have deleted it just in case but still nothing.

Not sure if I’m loading safe mode properly, I press shift but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

Holding the power button gets me to a screen that gives me two options.

Macintosh Disk or options.

If I choose the former it just feels like it’s booted up normally (not in safe mode).

It does actually connect to the internet however nothing loads - I’ve tried several browsers too.

It’s my MacBook I’m having issues with re the internet, I have tried resetting the router, but still nothing.

Tried everything, I’m going to give up, going to have to get someone to have a look at it.

Wouldn’t mind but I’ve only had it a few months.

Knew I should have stuck to Windows OS.

You mean on the ‘Airport Utility’?

It says:

connection Disconnected

router address 192.168.0.1

DNS Servers 194.168.4.100

194.168.8.100

Once I click network only three options appear in the panel to the right.

Wi-fi (says connected with a green light to the left)

Firewall (Active)

Thunderbolt Bridge (Not connected)

Tried it but got:

This site can’t be reached

“1.1.1.1 took too long too respond.

Try:

Checking the connection

Checking the proxy and the firewall

Err_connection_Timed_out”

Yes the router login screen shows up after entering 192.168.0.1
