how can i extend my macbook screen to my imac?

how can i extend my screen from my macbook (13in 2017 2 thunderbolt 3 ports mac ventura 13.2.1) to my imac (21.5in 2029 macOS 13.1) ? they are connected via bluetooth but i cant seem to drag my mouse over both screens. do i need a special cord? or are these devices not compatible with one another?

As long as the software is up to date (it seems you have done this), you should be able to use this feature.

If the Macs you're using don't have certain abilities, even with the updated software, another option you have is an app like "Duet". This is a very popular app!
