Display extension from Macbook Pro onto iMac desktop

I've tried connecting Bluetooth from both ends (Macbook to iMac--iMac to Macbook) but the iMac does not show up in the dropdown menu to extend display under Screen settings.

It would be more stable and convenient if I just bypass bluetooth and just connect using the USB-C but that hasn't worked either.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can extend my Macbook display onto the Macbook screen?

Thank you very much in advance.

Both Macs need to be running Monterey. The iMac has to be from 2019 or later. Or if you have an iMac Pro as your signature indicates, that will work as well. You also have to turn on AirPlay Receiver in System Preferences > Sharing.
