I am trying to create a new admin user since when I try to reinstall macos, it says “error no administrator found”, which is weird since I remember having an admin account.
I have already deleted .applesetupdone, but when I restart my computer, it doesn’t prompt up the setup assistant. I am using a M1 Mac.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Was this computer a Brand New computer at time of purchase ie From: Apple Directly and in a sealed plastic Wrap.

There is a difference between an Owner Account and an Admin Account
The " Owner Account of this computer " has that privilege to add, remove, upgrade or downgrade accounts. This would include adding more Admin Accounts and / or downgrading an ADDED Admin account
Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac
Normally the " Owner Account " is the very first Account used when the Computer was Very First Setup as New and out of the box.
Adding additional Admin Account can be done there after.

It was a brand new computer at the time of purchase.
The problem is, I am unable to access my desktop (the whole reason why I am trying to reinstall macos is because my screen turns black after signing in). Is there any way of fixing this issue or adding an admin account through the recovery terminal alone?
Did you follow these instructions for tricking Setup Assistant to run again?

What is showing in System Preferences >> Users & Groups ?

Try restarting in Safe Mode. Are you able to log in and access your account whilst in Safe Mode?
