iPod Classic memory

When I open my 120gb iPod Classic in iTunes the memory says I have 33gb of music and the rest of the memory says 'other' What is this other?

Other is used space on the device that isn't indexed in the library. Typically it is the result of an earlier crash where the library has been damaged and reset, and the device has been reloaded without properly initialising the memory first. Restoring to factory state or reformatting the drive should recover the space, after which you can sync media to it again.
