Since March 8, 2023, I have not been able to receive text messages on my Macbook Pro. Unless I send them from the MBP. Messages come to my iPhone7 just fine.

Here's a few ideas that might help get it working again:

  • Check your Messages settings: Make sure that your MacBook Pro is set up to receive messages. Open the Messages app on your Mac and go to Preferences > Accounts. Make sure that your Apple ID is selected and that the "Enable this account" box is checked.
  • Sign out and back in to iMessage: Sometimes signing out and back in to iMessage can resolve issues with receiving messages. Go to Messages > Preferences > Accounts and click on your Apple ID. Then, click the "Sign Out" button and sign back in again.
  • Check your iPhone settings: Make sure that your iPhone is set up to receive messages on your Mac. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and make sure that your MacBook Pro is enabled.

Hope that might help!

Thanks, but none of those worked. Messages won't recognize my username/password even though it works fine when I log in to my icloud acct online.

I logged out of the accounts in Messages and now I can't get anything in Mail. There is nothing there. When I put in my iCloud username and password, it accepted them, but still there is nothing in Mail at all.

I got these notices when I tried to sign in:

When I sign in with the correct password—the one I used to access my iCloud account just fine—it keeps giving me these windows.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

I did another Restart on the MBPro. But when it restarted, there was no arrow to select my login circle. So, I did a Safe Shutdown (Shift+Control+Option+Power Button). That seems to have resolved the issue. I can now access my Mail, and when I sent an iMessage to myself from my iPhone, it came to my MBPro as well.

I hope it lasts.

Thanks for the help!
