AppleAHCIDiskQueueManager problems

I had an SSD put into my 2015 iMac last year and now that has crashed. Unlike a crashed rotating disk, the computer still thinks the SSD is there, but it just can't read it. I've been running from an external disk while waiting for my new Mac Mini to come. My iMac runs fine but I'm periodically having reboots with the "AppleAHCIDiskQueueManager::setPowerState ... timed out after". Error. I've run diskutil from terminal and have completely unmounted the SSD. I've even ejected it after it was unmounted, but I'm still getting these errors.

Disk Utility app says my external boot disk has no errors.

What can I do to prevent this "AppleAHCIDiskQueueManager"

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Alas, the computer still rebooted. It did reboot however while the computer was idle. I was away for barely 20 minutes. When I'm at the computer working for longer than 20 minutes, it usually doesn't restart. I was in a zoom meeting for an hour and a half with no problems, but if I go away for 20 minutes, it reboots.

So I think you're on to something. I'll try unmounting and ejecting the disk again and see if that helps.

I have another question. Mail doesn't show highlighted messages. I have to highlight a message, totally quit mail and restart it. Very annoying.

I turned off Power Nap and I still got the reboot but it seemed to take a much longer idle time for the reboot. I was away from the computer for over an hour and when I got back it had just started a reboot. So I just unmounted the disk again and will see if that helps. I'm going to have breakfast now and will get back in about 20 minutes. We'll see.
