Bcc contents sometimes missing on iPhone sent mail.

SUMMARY

why Are bcc contents sometimes missing on sent iPhone mail? Does anyone have a workaround?

DETAILS

I often send mail from the iPhone Mail app with 40 -80 addresses in the bcc field. It’s important to me to have a record of these addresses. This should be easily done by saving the sent messages, but there is a bug that causes THE contents of the bcc field to sometimes be missing . I cannot see any pattern in when the bcc field is empty; it does not seem to matter whether or not a draft is saved before sending, for example.

I am using iOS 16.3.1, but the problem was present on earlier releases too.

a similar problem was reported before, but there were no relevant answers.

any suggestions would me much appreciated.

Hello KRDHarris,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you're missing some Bcc recipients from showing when reviewing your emails. You did mention that this issue was occurring with your iPhone. To confirm, does this issue occur with other devices or is this specific to your iPhone only? If this is specific to your iPhone, we can recommend some steps to help further isolate this issue and see if we can get this issue sorted out. You're already fully updated, so let's try the basic steps below:

1.) Refresh things by closing out the Mail app.

2.) Restart your iPhone.

If that doesn't help, try removing the affected email account and then re-add it back to further test and see if bcc recipients populate correctly.

Remove affected email account.
1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website. Make sure that all of your email is there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than on your iOS or iPadOS device.
2. On your device, go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
3. Tap the email account that you want to remove.
4. Tap Delete Account.

Re-add email account: Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Remember to save any pending emails you might have prior to attempting this specific step. Feel free to keep us posted on your results. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Cheers.
