AirPod Pros 2 causing operational issues with FCPX

Airpod Pros - 2nd generation are causing performance and playback issues when used with FCPX. Firstly, yes I know that wireless headphones aren't ideal for editing due to delay but that's not the point here. 

In use, they cause significant playback issues and even issues with placing the playhead. None of these issues have been present with other Airpods. I have seen others with the same issue on these and other forums. I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution?
