DNG Files not working in Photos

Hello -

I have a new Samsung phone (S23 Ultra) and am finding that its output DNG files are unreadable in Photos. The photo assumes a corrupted fluorescent green lined appearance. This is annoying as it makes to already-hard interface between Apple and Android even harder. BTW, I have also found that the 'TransferMyFiles' app doesn't work, despite being specifically intended for thisl

Slow loading and bad thumbnails with HEIC in Photos I have started to export and transcode my full frame photos in Lightroom to the HEIC format. Mainly to save space in the Photos library. But also because I believe that this is the format for the future. What saddens me is that the heic-tumbnails in Photos app are so poor. They look like something from the past. With color fringing and visible pixels. Also going full size with the image, Photos app uses 3-7 seconds to load the image properly. JPGs in the same resolution loads in half a second. This is really messing up the experience of the Photos library. Photos taken with the iPhone are also in the heic-format. But the thumbnails are crisp as winter crystals. I believe that iOS photos are optimized by Apple somehow, but phone photos are also three quarter the resolution. I know that heic is a harder codec that takes more time to unpack. But still. So my question. Are anyone else experiencing the same problems with thumbnails and loading times on heic-images that have been transcoded from high resolution jpgs? I have the same thumbnail and loading issues with the Photos app on both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 14 Pro. So this is an macOS and iOS universal issue.

Can't open .dng images. I'm not sure if I chose the right topic and device because it's on both my Macs, Ventura, and Monterey. Look at the screenshot of the .dng to understand. If it matters, this picture was taken on a Samsung phone and looks good on the phone. Maybe I can convert it to something that works better?

to fix .dng files corrupted during large download Can anybody tell me how I can fix corrupted picture files. They became corrupted when I downloaded them in too large quantities from my camera and from my iPhone12 Pro Max onto outside SSD's connected to my Mac Book Pro, OS Monterey. Not all files were corrupted, just some. I no longer have the originals. Thank you in advance.

Photos does not work with all forms of DNG. Some folks report problems with linear ones. It might be worth experimenting with the settings on your phone or the app you're suing for conversion. 'TransferMyFiles' is not an Apple product so best take up issues with that app with its makers.
