homekit can't invite people

This is what I learned today from a very helpful Apple Tech Support.

1. Everyone you invite, included you, must have iCloud and two-factor security enabled
2. I also to set-up my Home Pod as a home hub, but Apple TV would work too.

Not sure is #2 is necessary, but it worked.

In my case I solved it by adding my Apple TV to my “home”.

Go to “Settings” > “Airplay and HomeKit” and in the section HomeKit choose the room where you want to add it.

(Of course, you need to have a room first set up in your HomeKit)

I had the same problem and I solved it.

you can’t choose the person that you want to invite from the contact list, but you can type his/her apple ID (***gmail.com) and send invitation.

then he/she will open the home app, you can see the invitation. (There wont be a notification dont wait for it, you should open the app to see the invitation)

The answer can be as easy as adding the person’s email that used for apple ID in the contact information so the system can find them. Otherwise that person will be grayed out in your list.

i had to add my wife to my AppleTV and then I was able to invite her via the home app. Before doing this I was not able to even see an invite + area in the app

This doesn’t make any sense need to have a HomePod or a Apple TV for inviting people

Many of us have already tried that. Apple clearly broke HomeKit with the recent updates and it’s become unusable. Are there any workarounds other than resetting all of HomeKit and adding all of your devices again?

The + for inviting people showed up in HomeKit for me, and I invited my wife, but she never received the invitation.

that suggested typing out the email, then adding a space on the end.

It worked, she immediately received my invite.

Several other people also commented that it worked for them too.

I have this same issue, i have created a new email address and created a new Home still i cant find option to invite people. Please how do i fix this?

I tried that but no invitation shows on the home app. I see MY home, but no invite from my friend’s home. Should I use a different email address? 🤷‍♂️

I have the same issue. My husband has sent an invite to 2 different emails and nothing at all is working.

Hello, I still have the same issue, that there is simply no invite button ("+") available. All whats mentioned here does not work. Any solution for this?
