New iMac vs printer/scanner

I just purchased a new iMac to replace my old outdated late 2009 iMac..(still working) I had no problems transferring all my stuff from the old to the new via Time Machine backup disc.

I uninstalled the Canon printer (with scanner) from the new one (after it was transferred over) and reinstalled all new drivers.

It prints flawlessly no problem, but for some reason my computer does not recognize the scanner. Printer is fine..just the scanner function. I have not uninstalled the printer/scanner from my old computer... But the printer and scanner both work fine on the old one still. What am I missing?

Please try using Image Capture to scan. IC is pre-installed on every Mac so you already have it. To learn how to use it please click Scan images in Image Capture on Mac.

In the event IC will not work, that means the scanner is no longer supported by the scanner manufacturer. What many people do in this situation is to use VueScan, you can download a trial version to try it out and if you want it, simply buy it and you are done. You can find it at VueScan
