Just reboot frequently. Rebooting clears out temporary system and application cache and swap files.
For most users, what occupies the most storage space is media such as a Photo library, Music library and Movie Library. Apple suggests moving these to an External Hard Disk and then moving the originals from the internal storage to the Trash. Then empty the Trash.
If you do not know how to move files to the Trash and empty the Trash this is a fundamental and should be known. Please click Delete files and folders on Mac - Apple Support to learn how to do this.
Generally Photoshop takes care of managing the scratch disk, but if the problem is that the disk you are using for scratch space is full, follow rkaufmann87's advice.
