My iPhone screen taps don’t register when using Spotify

So I got a new refurbished iPhone 11 and it’s in amazing quality, no problems except I noticed when I used Spotify and I try and skip ahead in the song that I had to slick the white dog 6-8 time for it to register my click. I’ve tested this a few times and I know for sure it’s not my screen protector. I’d there a way for me to fix this without sending it back?
