Micro sd card not recognized with A1595 reader

I bought an Akaso Brave 7 LE camera.

I cannot transfer photos/videos with an SD card reader. I am using an adaptor. SDcard is not being recognized on my IPad. However, the same SD card is being recognized in my IMac Pro desktop without problems. SD card opens up on desktop and photos can be imported without any problems.

If I use an SD card from my Canon camera (not micro) it works without a problem on the IPad with the same reader. The photo App recognizes the external SD card without any problems.

Also bought a new reader that accepts micro SD cards as well as full sized ones. Same problem - not being recognized with or without adaptor.

I tired forced restart - no difference. Any ideas?

Thanks for replying, peterf200, and that additional info, it really helps! After looking at the manual for this camera: https://www.akasotech.com/image/upload/support/202210/14539_Brave7LE_EN.pdf

On page 16 of that manual, it recommends using their app to transfer the photos/videos from this camera to your iPad Pro: AKASO GO on the App Store

Hi peterf200,

We appreciate you reaching out to us.

We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you.

  1. Have you had the chance to make sure that your iPad's storage is not extremely low?
  2. Are you using the same steps in the article below to import photos and videos to your iPad? Import photos and videos to iPad - Apple Support

In the meantime, let’s check for a software update and make sure that you are running the latest version of iPadOS 16.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest software version for your device can help isolate potential software issues.

Kindly secure a backup and update.

  1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
  2. Update your iPhone or iPad

If the issue persists, please check if the Files app can detect your card reader.

Performing this step will help in isolating the issue.

Hi 1ssmith,

I amusing latest operating system 16.3.1. I also have 25GB of storage left.

I tried successfully to download videos with the SD card reader to the file folder. It recognized the micro SD card instantly with or without the adaptor.

However, the problem persists in the PhotoApp. Only the micro SD card is not recognized. A full sized SD card works perfectly.

Any solution?

Hi jdo-Apple

Thank you for your help. I am aware of the manual. However if you are in an area without wifi access it will not work. Correct?

It still does not explain why the photo App in my IPad does not recognize the micro SD card. (With or without adapter) It works fine with a full size SD card.

I prefer to transfer my raw footage with the SD card to my IPad as a back up.

Do you have any idea what stops the photo App in my IPad from recognizing a micro SD card?

Tks,

peterf
