Connecting a USB-C port to Thunderbolt 4

Hi,

I have to make a USB-C connection from a Bose L8 Pro music array system to my 2021 16" MacBook Pro that has Thunderbolt 4 ports. I need it to connect my MacBook to the L8 so that I can download the latest firmware for the unit.

The Bose instructions for the L8 specifically say that their USB-C port is not compatible with Thunderbolt 3 cables.

I have a gazillion cables at home, but I don't have one that is specifically a USB-C to Thunderbolt 4.

Both ends of such a cable probably look the same. It's hard for me to find the right cable. I think what I need is a Thunderbolt 4 cable that has one end backward compatible to USB-C. Would that be correct?

If yes, can you recommend such a cable and the right one to buy?

Many thanks in advance for any info!

What Bose is trying to tell you is that port does not support high ThunderBolt data rates. I don't think you care about that.

Use whatever cables you have one hand, including exactly the cable they say they don't support. it will work fine at slower data rates, which is all you need.

USB-C cables can pick up and use are a subset of Thunderbolt to provide perfectly fine USB data rates. They don't want you to be disappointed that it is not higher speed ThunderBolt data rates.
