Backing up Visual Voicemail in iTunes

Does the iTunes backup of my iPhone also backs up Visual Voicemails? Or do I need a third-party software to back up Visual Voicemails (Bell Mobility)? Thanks.

iPhone 5, iOS 10

I found the solution. The Visual Voicemails appear to be connected to your Sim card. Transferring your Sim card from your previous iPhone to a new iPhone seems to transfer the Visual Voicemails as well.

But I also found a great software that backs up everything from your iPhone. iMazing. If you check their website, the iMazing software claims to also detect the Pegasus malware. This feature was implemented in 2021. I think the company is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

The feature is based on Amnesty International's Mobile Verification Toolkit to detect the Pegasus Spyware.

Initially I tried the EaseUS (from China) but immediately removed it. It requires your AppleID and iTunes password.

The iMazing is so much more intuitive, easy to use with iPhone menu icons alowing you to back up the whole iPhone or individual apps. Unlike iTunes, iMazing allows you to backup multiple copies of backups meaning you can choose to Restore from any of your backups. I notice iTunes only allows one backup to be saved, the most recent only.

Hey iPhoneOnt,

We’d be happy to help out. Voicemails are managed by your carrier, so they wouldn’t be included in an iCloud or iTunes backup.

You can manually share your voicemails and choose to save them in the Files app, email to yourself, etc. If you have further questions about ensuring your voicemails are backed up safely, you should also check with your carrier.

For more help managing your voicemails, view these steps:

Play, share, or delete a voicemail message
Siri: Say something like: “Play the voicemail from Eliza.” Learn how to use Siri.
Or do the following:
1. Tap Voicemail, then tap a message.
2. Do any of the following:
* Play the message: Tap the Play button.
* Messages are saved until you delete them or your carrier erases them.
* Share the message: Tap the Share button.
* Delete the message: Tap the Delete button.
Important: In some countries or regions, deleted messages may be permanently erased by your carrier. Your voice messages may also be deleted if you change your SIM card.

To recover a deleted message, tap Deleted Messages, tap the message, then tap Undelete.

This is outlined further here: Check your voicemail on iPhone - Apple Support

We hope this helps out.

Take care!
