Setting up App Specific Password for Airmail app on iPhone

I've been using the Airmail app perfectly for years on my iMac (currently Ventura 13.2.1), and I really wanted to use the Airmail app on my iPhone 14plus (iOS 16.3.1) but I'm having a constant issue with having the App Specific Password constantly rejected by the Airmail app. Has anyone else had any experience of this? Would really appreciate some help, followed all the instructions, not sure what else I can do.

Thanks for the advice.

In fact I reset the Apple ID password again, as I had to change the email address. Revoked the app specific password, generated a new one, and entered the new details as required. All working perfectly now! The issue I had, was being caused by me setting up two different app specific passwords - one for the iMac, and one for the iPhone. My folly, as I was thinking that they would be different as they were for two different apps! Easy mistake to make in the heat of the moment....

Have you recently reset the password for your Apple ID? If so, this would explain why the app-specific passwords have been revoked. Even if you did not reset the password, have you tried to revoke and generate a new app-specific password? Here's how to do that: Sign in to apps with your Apple ID using app-specific passwords - Apple Support .This will help us isolate what exactly is causing the issue.

Just to confirm, is the issue happening when trying to create an app-specific password, or does it happen when trying to enter an app-specific password that was already generated? That information will help us plan how to proceed.

Some apps made by developers other than Apple ask you to sign in with your Apple ID, so that the app can access information like mail, contacts, and calendars that you store in iCloud. To help make sure that your Apple ID password can't be stored or collected by the app, you can choose to create an Apple ID password to use only with that app.

You use this app-specific password when the app asks you to sign in with your Apple ID.

To generate and use app-specific passwords, your Apple ID must be protected with two-factor authentication.

How to generate an app-specific password

1. Sign in to appleid.apple.com.
2. In the Sign-In and Security section, select App-Specific Passwords.
3. Select Generate an app-specific password or select the Add button Blue plus sign icon., then follow the steps on your screen.
4. Enter or paste the app-specific password into the password field of the app.

If you recently reset your Apple ID password, you may need to revoke the app-specific password and generate a new one.
