CarPlay whatsapp replying error

After multiple attempts at contacting WhatsApp support and getting generic replies, I FINALLY got a real response and it fixed the issue. You need to update to WhatsApp vs 2.24.8.78. That seems to fix the issue. Everything was working again for me today.

Definitely a WhatsApp issue. Where available (North America for sure), WhatsApp v23.8.78 seems to have fixed the “unable to reply” issue. It doesn’t appear to self-update and I had to go into App Store and expand the WhatsApp information screen like shown:

I was having this problem as well. But I think WhatsApp finally put out a fix. This morning I went to the Apple Store on my iPhone, searched for WhatsApp, opened the link, and there was an update. I installed the update, then when out to my car and connected to Carplay, and tested and was able to reply to my wife's test messages. Yahoo! About time

Did anyone ever find a fix for this? I have found it was because we had Face ID turned on to access WhatsApp. Basically the car can’t unlock the app to use it…

It is frustrating. However, a doable solution: Someone put a post up a few days ago saying they have found a way around it - when asked if you want to reply say: reply to (the person or group name). This has worked for me too. Not perfect, but also not as frustrating as closing and re-opening messages. Hopefully it works for you. Good luck!

I’ve found if you say reply and the persons name. It will

allow you to reply to that message.

Also same goes for groups. Say reply group. It will then ask for the groups name.

Its not ideal but a work around I’ve figured out.

Replying error seems to have been fixed in today’s update.

I think you meant iOS 16.4.1 but that was not the fix; it was WhatsApp 23.8.78

Just update your WhatsApp app to the 2.23.7.82 version.

I’ve had the issue for a couple of weeks now. I can’t reply to any WhatsApp groups on CarPlay and if I want to reply to an individual message I need to go out of the app and back in to create a new message then it lets me reply. I’ve messaged the help desk 3 times and get the same response and I’ve called them out on twitter and they are ignoring it

I had the same contacts not loaded message on CarPlay.

Here’s how to fix it:

go into Apps. Scroll to WhatsApp HOWEVER do not press the UPDATE button.

. Press on the date just under the WhatsApp icon. (There’s no indication to press anything but trust me - place your finger on the date)

This links you to a WhatsApp UPDATE - (as if you are downloading for the first time) Click on that update app link and hey presto - contacts can be messaged again 😁

I have same issue. Try saying group. Example, I have a group called family, if I say family won’t work, if I say family group it works most times.

I can confirm, as of Apr 24, 2023, that the response feature is NOT working with iOS 16.4.1 and WA 23.7.83

That has no bearing on it. Just make sure you go into App Store and please upgrade to 23.8.78 That seems to be working for most people.
