CarPlay whatsapp replying error

Recently when trying to reply to a whatsapp message via carplay it tells me "oops something went wrong".

I can read messages, and send new messages but can't reply.

IOS is up to date, Whatsapp is up to date and I even unpaired and re-paired my phone but still nothing.

Any ideas? is this a Whatsapp issue or Siri issue?

After multiple attempts at contacting WhatsApp support and getting generic replies, I FINALLY got a real response and it fixed the issue. You need to update to WhatsApp vs 2.24.8.78. That seems to fix the issue. Everything was working again for me today.

CarPlay works week with messages, replies fine so I don’t think it’s an iOS issue, besides family and friends who have not upgraded iOS are having same problem

whatsapp themselves are simply not interested, I have opened a total of 33 tickets and 21 emails so far, and every single one has received the same response, and then followed up with “we have provided you with a response……….close ticket

NOTHING is going to happen until THEY want to deal with it, or unless people constantly put pressure on them with opening tickets and complaining

I’ve also got this issue. Pretty sure it occurred with the iOS 16.4.1 update. I suspect something changed with a CarPlay/Siri API and they haven’t updated.

I contacted WhatsApp and was greeted with the “make sure you are running the latest version of iOS” and closed the ticket.

Separately, I also have an issue where CarPlay WhatsApp notification result in Siri re-reading old messages that I’ve already replied to. Again, contacted WhatsApp and was giving the same useless help and they closed the ticket.

when you go to the Apple Store and Search for WhatsApp, if you already have it installed you will see Open on the side. to get to the Update, if it is available for you, you have to NOT click on the Open button but instead in the area I have highlighted in Yellow. (the area under the title if the screenshot does not come through) This will take you to the details page and if the update is available it will offer it there. Try that

So, your saying you can’t get 23.8.78 in the App Store? Weird. Your iOS is definitely the latest. Just thinking out loud: if you were able to use a VPN to fool App Store that you are in North America, whether the latest WA version would appear? 23.8.78 has only been available since Friday (28/04), so maybe they’re working on other regions now?

I thought that only was me, but I can see that is a general issue.

I was reading the comments and some of you agree that is a WhatsApp issue, but Im using both whatsapp (business and normal) and both launch the same error to reply WA messages.

Could maybe be a iOS issue?, I recently update to 16.4 and this bug doesnt appeared before upgrade.

I’ve updated mine this morning. And the reply issue is fixed. This was the most annoying part. I believe the notification issue is android also. That it keeps a dot showing outstanding notifications. Unless you listen to the messages within the CarPlay app. Other than that I can deal with that. Even though it seems counterproductive. It does help in case you have auto speak messages on and miss them. It prompts to have a look and see that messages you have. So it may in fact be done on purpose. I think the iPhone message app does the same.
