Recently when trying to reply to a whatsapp message via carplay it tells me "oops something went wrong".
I can read messages, and send new messages but can't reply.
IOS is up to date, Whatsapp is up to date and I even unpaired and re-paired my phone but still nothing.
Any ideas? is this a Whatsapp issue or Siri issue?

After multiple attempts at contacting WhatsApp support and getting generic replies, I FINALLY got a real response and it fixed the issue. You need to update to WhatsApp vs 2.24.8.78. That seems to fix the issue. Everything was working again for me today.
Me too. Tried everything except resetting phone. Which I am not prepared to do. Seems only after recent WhatsApp update. I’m holding out to see if they fix it.
myself and a friend are having the same issue, we can send initial messages, but I can’t reply to any. I think it was a WhatsApp update. Hopefully they sort one out to fix it soon.
Same here. I’ve tried to escalate it and can’t get in touch with them. Went into Apple Store and vw garage but it’s definitely a WhatsApp issue

You have to do it from the App Store. Search for the Whatsapp app and click on Update. No need to reinstall anything.
Are you referring specifically to the ability to answer, and if so, can you confirm iOS and WhatsApp version?
Be specific i.e. iOS and WhatsApp version.
WhatsApp isn't the issue when we attempt to reply on CarPlay. The problem is with Apple's IOS. With the latest iOS, they have addressed this matter & now I can reply WhatsApp over Carplay

yes exactly the same 5 times! Eventually I sent them a message calling them out on it (I called them the I word but apple won’t allow me to say it here) and said all they do is send copy and paste replies, I was then asked to send a video of what’s occurring, I did that and they received it and said thank you and closed the ticket
curious now, is it their problem or carplay/Siri
I was hoping it was a WhatsApp update for when iOS 16.4 came out that broke it. But now I have 16.4 it’s still the same issue. Very frustrating, this is the messaging platform I rely on ever since Facebook messenger isn’t on car play any longer too.
Same here too. It's been driving me nuts! And I got a new phone around the same time the problem started, so I've been thinking it's to do with that. But obviously not.
What is the correct procedure for lodging a complaint? And do we think it's a WhatsApp or IOS problem? TIA
As an aside to all the CarPlay issues we all seem to be having has anyone else noticed about the same time this problem developed WhatsApp photos I’ve received haven’t been automatically saving to mt camera roll?
Maybe if the what’s app chat wasn’t a robot and actually tried to reply to a message in CarPlay, they would realise there was an issue. Instead of keep closing the chats with make sure your software is updated! Even if you reply saying, it’s updated, they still close the chat there appears to be no other way of telling them they have an issue

it still has issue of not registering that previous messages have been “read” so found myself having to listen to 7messages trying to get the most recent… my daughter was too fast so couldn’t jump in and “skip” all messages to clear the backlog…
I’ve had the same issues, feel a bit better it’s not me being an idiot.I did see that Siri was turned of in WhatsApp, but all is on now except Face ID.
ive even tried plugging my phone into the wife’s car, this didn’t work either, which definitely says it’s the handset.WhatsApp in this matter are as good as a chocolate fireguard.
Sorry I have no solution yet, just thought I’d rant.
