Epson V600 on Ventura, scanner utility not functional?

Hi, has anyone figure out how to change the scanner settings on a V600 using the current version of Epson Scan Utility 2? The only option appears to be to reset to factory.

What I really want to do is change the power off timing from the current maximum of 300 seconds (who came up with that number??) to more like 30 or 60 minutes. Just I as I get the post processing settings correct and am ready to scan, the scanner turns off. Worse, the connection the scanner from any software hangs and will not reconnect without quitting and restarting the client. Scanning is tedious enough without that nuisance.

Thanks in advance for any solutions (...yes, I've already updated all the drivers etc.).

Mark.

Epson offers this article on how to adjust the power off timeout setting in their Scan Utility. This is a Windows example, but wondering if you can find a Mac Scan Utility counterpart, or if this capability is only with their Windows Scan Utility software.

If there is no relief in the above paragraph, I would recommend contacting Epson and see if they know how to do this on macOS.

[ Update ] Just read your older post response in this community that you had reached out to Epson without a response.

Have you tried using Image Capture in your Applications folder. I have found this to be more stable than using the device drivers and software. You might not have all of the scanning options the device software includes, but the basic scanning options are there.

It seems the Printer/Scanner device drivers and software are the first thing to break after an OS software update and takes time for them to update their drivers. Using Image Capture has remained stable for me between Software updates.

Yes, thank you, Image Capture works quite well. If it had a setting to recognize the slide or film holder and did batches of 4 scans at a time, it would be perfect for most imports. Hint to Apple....

My post was about finding a way (via Terminal?) to hack the timeout setting on the V600. The factory maximum is 300 seconds but that's not long enough for post processing work.

I'm using Silverfast 9 SE Plus and find it very useful, despite the steep learning curve (their PDF and YouTube help files are great!) and the slow process. Amazing optimization of damaged/underexposed slides.

I heard back from Epson, but the answer was “no, cannot increase the timeout duration in the utility software” and presumably not in the Scan2 app, or any other software.

Is there a clever programmer who can suggest a hack via Terminal to find and change that parameter for the V600? I assume this would have to work via the V600 firmware rather than the MacOS driver.
