connectivity of airpods while incoming calls
i am having a call on my iphone and the airpods are not in my ear. They are in the case. Can i connect the airpods quickly to answer the call before it is declined?

I think you might be stretching your luck. You need to get the pods out of your pocket, out of their charging case and into your ears, then tap to answer the call. Only my opinion but I think the time is too tight to be sure, and there is a risk you will fumble the handling to give a rejected call.
If it was my decision I would answer on the iPhone (or my Apple Watch) then if I want to shift to AirPods simply ask the caller to wait for a few moments while the change is made. I do something similar when I answer on the Watch then find my iPhone and transfer the call, callers are always understanding about a few moments waiting.
