Hello Levicuide,

We have a great support article that might help with this. Please take a look at it here: Change settings for AirPods Pro (all generations) - Apple Support. Follow this guidance:

"Turn off charging case sounds on AirPods Pro (2nd generation)

Your AirPods Pro (2nd generation) charging case plays a sound when it pairs, charges, and more. You can turn off these sounds.

    1. Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
    2. Do one of the following:
      • On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings , tap the name of your AirPods near the top of the screen, then turn Enable Charging Case Sounds on or off.
      • On Mac: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click the name of your AirPods in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down), then turn “Enable charging case sounds” on or off."

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.

I had the same problem. However after some research I realised my Airpods were not in fact genuine. They seem to have a valid serial number and even AppleCare+ but the manufacturer copies the same serial number for multiple Airpods.

If they are fake you'd also probably fail to upgrade their firmware. These are the series of problem that I was having:

  • The option to turn off the case sound was not there.
  • The audio was breaking up sometimes.
  • The first time after resetting Airpods, it said "Not Your Airpods Pro" on my Iphone.
  • In settings of my Iphone, it said "Airpods Pro" instead of "Airpods Pro 2"
  • Most importantly I saw some google results when I searched my Serial Number.
  • I could not upgrade the firmware.

I was having the same problem my new AirPods were constantly beeping while charging. I tried everything posted here. Then I noticed they also weren’t charging. I was using my own usb-c charging cords. I tried the same cords on my iPad and iPhone and they charged just fine. So I tried using the cords the AirPods came with and that fixed it. They are charging. Once I switched the cords it also allowed me to turn off the option for the sound. Settings - click on your AirPod name - make sure the case is open - then scroll down and click enable charging case sounds to toggle it off.

I finally got my to turn off. I flipped my case open for 30 seconds. Then took the buds out and put them in my ears. I left the case open. Then went to Bluetooth/airpods. Scrolled down to the button labeled “enable case sounds” and turned it off. The beeping it gone now when I charge. Thank God. Apple needs to address this. This is the second time I’ve this happen without ever having messed with it on my own.

I am confident I have a solution for Android users wanting to disable the case sounds, though it does require use of an iPhone. I am posting here because this comes up as one of the first search results when trying to resolve this issue.

  1. Connect Airpods to an iPhone (Or perhaps other apple device, haven't tried. In my case, an iPhone 15 Pro was used) and set them up (I assume. Mine had been set up months prior)
  2. Disable case sounds in settings (This action alone only disables sounds if the Airpods remain connected to an iPhone that is powered on. Case sounds return if the iPhone is turned off)
  3. Remove the Airpods from the "Find My" app. This was the key for me.

I haven't heard case sounds with the iPhone I used turned off for a couple of weeks. I've only used them with my Android phone. Action #3 was the true solution that I had not seen suggested anywhere. Hopefully this helps others.

This problem of the "Enable airpod case sounds" being disactivated has been plaguing me too!

This worked for me: I started playing around in the settings, changing things one by one to see if the case sound option would activate. I changed "Connect to iPhone" from "Automatic" to "If it was the last device used" - nothing. Then I changed "Microphone" from "Automatic" to "Only left." And boom, when I went back to the main page of airpod settings, I was able to disactivate the case sounds.

Maybe the trick is not to do exactly as I did, but to play around with the settings (maybe especially ones you haven't touched before?) until that one activates...unsure what conclusion to draw, just so relieved!!

Something about that 15% tone trick might work.

I first tried that the way that other 15% tone comment talked about but it didn't work.

One day I was on a phone call and turned down the tone volume in the Accessability>airpods>tone to 15% and then went into the Bluetooth airpod setting (the ! setting) and bang it was no longer greyed out. Super strange. I don't dare touch it to experiment on what made it work. But I think I also had the case plugged in charging at the time.

Sidenote:

  • I had both airpods in my ears unlike the other comment.
  • I turned off the charging case sound when I first got them with no issues. It wasn't until a year later when I had to reset my airpods because the left ear stopped working that the setting greyed out on enabled.

Good luck everyone.

Thanks for replying, Levicuide, and that additional info. At this point, let's have you reset your AirPods with these steps:

1. "Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.
4. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].
* If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.
* If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.
7. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.
8. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*
9. AirPods charging cases
10. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen.
AirPods can be associated with one Apple ID. If you want to use AirPods (3rd generation) or AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation) that someone else has used, they first need to remove the AirPods from their Apple ID.
* When you reset your AirPods, the settings for your AirPods also reset. You can change your settings again."

And those are from here: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support
