Moved FCP library to external drive - Media no longer appears in library

I moved a FCP library and consolidated all media files on an external hard drive. The timeline looks the same as when the library was on the computer hard drive but it is now all black. The names of the media files still appear in the timeline, and the start, end and duration info for the files is all correct in the side menu.

The missing media does not appear red. They are just empty black spaces.

When I click on an individual file in the timeline, the side menu 'Reveal In Finder' button does nothing.

I tried 'Relink Files' but nothing appears in either Original or Proxy.

How do I get the Library to find these files?

P.S. This is my first time using FCP.

Select the library in FCP. Use the Relink function. Click on All. Post a screenshot of what you see.

The one file that appears in the library is the one that I imported but that still doesn't appear in the timeline even though the file names match.

Reimporting the file in this manner won't connect it existing instances that are looking for the file in a different file path. It will just confuse the database.

Can you tell us exactly how you moved the library and consolidated the footage to the external drive?

There is no Reveal in Finder in the timeline. There is a Reveal in Browser (Shift-F) doesn't that do anything? I assume you don't see the video when you play the timeline.

I used the "Copy to Library" function under "File" and clicked on the "Consolidate" option. Everything appears to be where it should but the browser is empty.

I dragged and dropped. No, the video does not play. Shift-F shows this: "Failed to reveal clip. The original file could not be found or reconstructed."

I clicked on "Media" with Original, Optimized, and 'Copy media stored in external location.' I did not include Proxy. Consolidate was in the library properties.

Look in your system Movies folder and see if there's an FCP library there called Untitled. What's in that library?
