I purchased an Apple Watch SE Cellular + GPS a few days ago. I tried to configure the mobile network but without success.
The smartwatch was purchased second-hand and the model is North American I think (A2354) and I'm in Portugal.
What can I do to get around this difficulty?

There are two carrier systems that a watch is specifically designed to work with - North America and everywhere else (essentially). And they are incompatible. A watch bought in one region will not work in the other.
