SSD boots but doesn't show up at Startup Disk in recovery mode

I installed a new SSD a few weeks ago on a MacBook 2014 Retina running Mojave. I think I cloned from Carbon Copy or used Disk Utility to make a copy of the original Apple SSD. It boots a little slowly but fine otherwise.

However, when I went to install a trial version of Parallels, a message came up that led to entering a command in Terminal in recovery mode. That didn't work so I checked the Startup Disk and saw no drive. Quit out and restarted in normal mode, go to system prefs/Startup Disk and the new SSD is there but it showed up as a USB.

Ran first aid and now it shows up as a normal hard drive in system prefs but not in recovery mode. I assume that I missed something in the original cloning or install. I'd like to fix this as I can't install Parallels and a music equalizer will not load at startup. Plus a faster boot time would be nice. Thanks!
