Steps from watch not syncing to iPhone

My steps from my watch are not syncing to my iPhone 14 pro. I have unpaired and repaired my watch to my phone. My watch is added as a device and fitness activity under privacy is checked. How can this be fixed? ( phone records correctly if I have it with me but if left and I only have the watch the phone does not show the steps I took while wearing the watch)

Fitness app not syncing with the iPhone when I do not wear the Watch Hello. I have a watch 7 and an iPhone 12. When I do not wear the watch the fitness app shows no activity forcing me to wear the watch all the time. Is there any way around it? Like picking up the activity from the item (watch or phone) that is moving with me? Or is there a way to make the iPhone the main device? Or a way to manually switch back and forth. There are times I do not want to wear the watch. Thanks

No true-up capabilities from iPhone to Apple Watch. I forget to wear my Apple Watch sometimes and decide to go on a good long hike, but do have my iPhone with me. It records all my elevations and steps. My expectation is that when I get home and put my Apple Watch on, it will sync what I have done with my iPhone. This does not happen and goes against all the tenants of good user experience design. I don't have a true collection of my exercise when I look at my watch which is very frustrating. This is called a true-up, where you have asynchronous data between two sources. I would think Steve Jobs would be on something like this right away if he were still alive. Could I have an understanding of why Apple refuses to sync devices together properly, or have I missed some sort of settings?

If you tap on "Data Sources", can you see entries for counting steps, registered by your Apple Watch SE and iPhone, sorted by date and time?

Yes. Both the phone and watch show as a source. I don’t see “Health” as a source as shown in your photo

Although I only see 2 days worth for the watch because I had unpaired and re paired to see if that would fix it. The 2 I see are yesterday and today
