Why is my @me.com account receiving mail addressed to @yahoo.com accounts?
I am getting alot of spam Emails that are not addressed to me but to Yahoo.com accounts. Why and what are the mail developers doing about this problem.

Hi Jasea,
Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!
We understand that you're receiving email for Yahoo accounts as well as your iCloud account.
We're all Apple users here so we can't speak to what developers are doing with spam email.
Do you have any Yahoo accounts enabled on your Mac? Check out this resource which will show you how to check: View email account information in Mail on Mac - Apple Support
If you need help to reduce spam that you receive on your iCloud account, this resource will guide you: Report and reduce spam in iCloud Mail - Apple Support
"Report junk mail
To make sure future messages from the same sender are marked as junk, you can report messages as junk in the Mail app.
We hope this helps.
Cheers!
Hi Jasea,
We recommend checking to see what email accounts you have listed . If you see a Yahoo email account, you can make it inactive or delete it. This article explains more about this: Change Account Information settings in Mail on Mac.
"To change these settings in the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, click Accounts, then click Account Information.
Enable this account:
Make an account active or inactive. When you deselect the checkbox for an account (make it inactive), the account is disabled and taken offline—its mailboxes and messages don’t appear in Mail."
In regard to your questions about why Apple Mail is identifying some mail as junk, this could be based on what you've previously marked as junk. This article explains more about this: Reduce junk mail in Mail on Mac.
Take care.
Hi Miche11e_P
Thank you for your prompt response, can I add more information to the problem. I have a @me.com email account that I have had for about 10 years with no problems. When Apple stated the @icloud.com accounts I was asked if I wanted to change but as I had a lot of contacts I said no which was accepted. Still fine until early this year when I started to get over 100 spam emails posted into my junk folder each day by Apple. Most were addressed to the @icloud.com account. I eventually found out about the Mail rules and how to apply them and then set a rule to delete any that were addressed to the @Icloud.com account. Then I found that I was getting junk mail addressed to my ID @yahoo.com. I have never had a @yahoo.com account, so I added another rule to delete any email that had my ID @yahoo.com as the to address. we are now getting the junk mail down to managable numbers. so now the problem is that I am getting emails addressed many Ids@ yahoo.com so I amended the last rule to delete any Email that contained @yahoo.com. We are now allmost there now I am just getting about 10 to 15 junk Emails a day that are addressed to jst an ID no location for example RvaI9O or 1NS1Yk or 2zA2b2 to give you some idea.
All of these Emails have been placed in my Junk folder by Apple, why?
Whilst I can understand why the @icloud.com emails have arrived in my in basket wht have the Emails addressed to @yahoo.com been sent to me?
Why have the Emails with just an ID arrived at my account and how do I stop them.
Sorry to have taken up your time reading this, but any help you can give will be welcomed
