Adding Simple Tags in Finder Tiggers error code -8076.

When adding a new tag (not previously added) I'll get this whacky error message:

An unexpected error occurred (error code -8076).

Why do I get this?

Please try in Safe Mode and tell us if the same thing happens.

There could be some drive issue, or there could be a software conflict.

If it is the latter, then when adding a tag in Safe Mode, it should work without error.

In that case, please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

Files on the system drive. I'm using Finder. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro. Every last thing is 100% Apple. There's no funky/weird software on my system - I am very picky about what runs on my machine. This is clearly a bug. I've had this same laptop since 2015 - only the operating system changed (upgraded). Ever since then - I get that whacky error. I can reproduce the error when adding a tag that has not been previously added before. It is as if the operating system is really really slow to update <something> and while updating I get the strange error. To be clear, I did say "as if" - meaning that I am speculating for lack of any answers. I'm not saying my system is running slow - because that is not the case. Again - I speculate over why I would get such a strange error when adding a new tag (not already in the list). Like I said, I can reproduce the error.
