HomePod mini and Dolby Atmos support

Prior to iOS/HomePod software v 16 (iOS 15.x.x)I was able to play Dolby Atmos music from Apple Music on my HomePod mini (It would show the Dolby Atmos indicator below the song that was playing on my HomePod Mini). After updating to iOS 16 I am no longer getting the indicator for Dolby Atmos audio playback on my HomePod Mini… I have toggled all of the respective options on and off and no luck… I understand the HomePod mini doesn’t support spatial audio but as memory serves me Dolby Atmos was working albeit without the spatial audio functionality. Any thoughts? Did Apple quietly remove this feature and remove any mention of it in tech specs and KB articles?

Hi there mikhaelgiron,

You mentioned you toggled relevant options on and off. To confirm, you toggled the setting seen below, correct? We want to make sure we understand the setting you toggled.

"How to listen to Dolby Atmos on your HomePod

Turn Dolby Atmos on or off

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Home app.
  2. Tap the Home button Home button.
  3. Tap Home Settings.
  4. Under People, tap your name.
  5. Tap Apple Music.
  6. Turn Dolby Atmos on or off."

That information is from this article: About Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos in Apple Music - Apple Support To confirm, are you able to play Dolby Atmos from other devices without any issues? We want to see if this is isolated to your HomePod mini or multiple devices.

Take care!
